The only sad things is... Castiel is gone! There is 3 Theories on his death.
1. Castiel wanted to save Dean (once again) by pushing him to let go and leave him there (In my opinion it's this one).
2. Dean is now trusting more his Vampire new friends than Castiel, so when he saw that it was too complicated to bring Castiel with him back home he just gave up on him (If it's this one I will be really disappointed) .
3. Dean tried everything he could to take Castiel back with him but at the last minute he lost him and was pushed in the gate without him (That could be also this one but It's also sad for both of them).
On the other hand, this season will be about 3 things (theories):
1. To close the gates of hell forever with the tablet and Kevin.
2. To make us hate Sam again because he won't go on hunting with Dean and prefer a little boring life.
3. Dean will turn to his vampire friends to get more effective hunting until he turn to kill good people then Sam is in obligation to go back to active hunter's life to get Dean out of the vampires control.
That is how I see the season 8. If it's taking this direction it's gonna bring a season 9 for sure.

I am not convinced that Castiel is dead, especially because it seems that Dean never actually saw him die. This show is never what it seems, so I am sure that there was far more to the story than they are letting on. A co-worker at DISH thinks that it was scenario three, and Dean was pushed in to the portal when Castiel let go. I can’t wait to learn more about the story, I have already programmed my Hopper to record tonight’s episode. My late train is always interfering with my favorite shows, making the 2,000 hours of recording space essential for my shows. I like that I never have to worry about falling behind, and I get to fast forward through commercials on my recordings. There is nothing better than coming home after a long day, and catching up with my favorite brothers. Castiel has survived a lot, so I don’t think that Purgatory was the end of him. Just because he didn’t make it out of the portal with Dean, doesn’t mean that he didn’t find some other way to escape.
Actually I hope your true. Castiel is a main character now for me and I want to see him back soooooo much.
2 problems can keep Castiel away :
1. Misha Collins. I fear that he wants to stop and do something else. This guy is unstable in his head. I like crazy people but we never know with them.
2. Actually also many people hate Castiel because he is making it easy for the boys to fight. Too easy sometimes. Some Red Neck made a gay reputation out of his character. The new executive might fear that this reputation is bad for the entire show. If this fear is strong enough we will never see Cass again.
I am not 100% with the change Sera Gamble made to the show but Cass... I just can't dislike him. I dough that he will survive to the show.
I love this show and I hope they go to season 10 cause it worth it (much better than Smallville).
