Ryo Ikebe is dead!

Well you will ask yourself.... who is Ryo Ikebe. I wanted to know what movies he does and realized that I saw one of them in the past by mistake. When I was about 18 years old, I wanted to watch Star Wars badly during the weekends. I got to a videostore and rented one who was called ' Battle in outerspace'. In french the translation was the same as the US Star Wars 'La guerre des étoiles'. When I started the tape.......ohhhhhhhhhhh boy!!! I was laughing all the time. This was a really poor mix between Star Wars and Star Trek. The acking was really bad and the special effect worst than Star Trek (the first series).

I was surprise to see that this movie was made  in 1959. Seven years after came Star Trek the original series with captain Kirk. Star Wars arrive only in 1977. I think this japanese version was the first to do that kinda of movies in color. If you never watched it please do. You can  see the cables that support the little ship in the air when they fight. They also wear funny costume.

I wonder why my videostore had that movie. Where did they get it?? It was doubled in french (ahhhhhhhhh). Maybe it was cheap to have it at that time. Now it's a rare movie. They must keep this tape.
